Rebooting Myself

Earlier this week I returned home from two weeks of travel and ministry in Asia.

While there, I managed to acquire a "root-kit" that really trashes your hard drive. As a result, Wednesday morning I began to re-assemble the various pieces and trails of my life from multiple sources: written, electronic, brainscan, etc.

Since my regular ministry is leader development and leadership coaching for OMF U.S. and World Team, I needed to re-acquire and re-establish ny coaching relationships.

The process of reloading Windows in my computer reminded me in some ways of what I need to do with my life as I re-establish the various ministry and professional tracks I'm committed to. Just like I had to re-boot and re-build my hard drive, I need to periodically re-boot and re-build my life. I'm not starting from scratch in either arena. I had pretty good backups and the Lord even gave me an opportunity to briefly return to my traxhed harddisk to export my Outlook e-mail which hadn't been backed up regularly.

Some months ago I took several hours to create a document called "My Life Well-Lived" where I sought to detail the way I want to live my life, in terms of daily, weekly, monthly, activities and habits. I'm using that document so fine tune the insights and corrections I've made since I first drafted it.

Now, hopefully, I'll get a new start on re-creating the habits and practices, the relationships and responsibilities that comprise my life well lived.

When did you last re-boot?
